Oishinbo is a long-running Japanese cooking manga series that follows the adventures of culinary journalist Shirō Yamaoka and his partner, Yūko Kurita. Written by Tetsu Kariya and illustrated by Akira Hanasaki, the series was published by Shogakukan between 1983 and 2008 in Big Comic Spirits. It resumed on February 23, 2009, but went on indefinite hiatus after the May 12, 2014, edition in response to criticism. The title is a combination of the Japanese words for delicious and someone who loves to eat.
